photoNORTH

photoNORTH is an initiative supporting photography and photographers in the North East. It has two central aims: creating a pro-active network through better information exchange, talks and events and a commitment to supporting contemporary work through exhibition, commission and distribution.
In seeking to build a stronger regional network for the sector, this website has been developed to serve as resource, and to act as a local information hub.

Providing information on talks programmes, portfolio days and one-to-one advice sessions.

photoNORTH is committed to exploring the role and relevance of contemporary photography in a fast changing world.

photoNORTH will take the commissioning of photography into different contexts and environments.

-through magazines and publications for projects on the page
-through billboards and campaigns on the streets
-and by commissions that distribute through the internet

This site is also a place to flag up other organisations projects, commissions, talks and events. By keeping in regular contact with photo organisations and initiatives around the country it can quickly share information, residency opportunities, workshops and seminars that might be of interest to artists and photographers in the North East.
